I think what Asian means is that the stringent rule of 'Same kind of job' in AC21 makes AC21 usability very limited. If that condition is abolished, 485 is as good as GC in terms of job mobility.

I just wanted to get some input from the veterans here who have started a business in partnership while they have been waiting for the coveted green card.
What kind of legal paperwork does it take to start a business? I would think as long as you don't work for the business it should be ok? If you can own part of a corporation (stocks), you can be a partner in a business?

I'm working in a direct Client site of my Employer and i work on H1B.
Won't i be allowed to enter this office from OCT1st 07 or that's OCT 2008 ??
First of all even if CIR is passed someone need to interpret the section. What kind of Ban for H1b in consulting? Is it blanket ban? It is going to be very tough in reality to Ban H1b for consulting completely. There might be some options in the law.

I applied for EAD renewal at NSC on 07/03/08 and today 08/06/2008, the status shows card production ordered. I applied for my wife along with me and her status shows still received.
Does the dependent (spouse) EAD in general get approved a few days after the primary applicants EAD is approved? I am not really using the EAD, its my wife who is using it, and thats the concern.

I hope they resolve it promptly. Secondly, you can also try contact ACLU and get their consultation on this issue stating excessive harassment of legal immigrant. I have heard of few cases where they helped big time though they were asylum cases.

If you are not sure if you will have a job till October 1st, 2009, you can ask your employer/lawyer to file your H1 under visa to be issued abroad category and NOT file a H1 Change of Status petition. In this case, your H1 status wont start until you go out of the country and re-enter after getting H1 visa stamped at a US consulate in your home country. This way, even if you get laid off, you can continue to stay and work here until you have a valid OPT and a job irrespective of whether your H1 is approved/revoked. But the drawback here is that, if you end up still being employed then you wont be able to start work on H1 till you re-enter with the H1 stamp. Hope this helps....

I did quick search on this website and notice nothing about infopass experience at Detroit, MI office ( ... I am sure someone smarty pants is going to say I didn't search hard enough), anyway I wanted to share my expereience, so started this thread.
I have apointment tommorow, and will share what happened ( or didn't). If you had been already thru this, please feel free to share pointers.

Let's say if you have a visa till dec 2010 and passport expires by june 2010. If you go out of country now and enter US again, they will issue I-94 till june 2010 only. Now a days Port of Entry CBP are careful in issuing I-94 till the expiry of the passport (not till the visa end date).

Well I dont understand you guys... Why the hell u start cursing... If i was a Devil or what so ever taking a illegal route... I wouldnot have posted this question here but would have gone the route and started the process

and wat about all those desi who work with consultancy who stay on bench etc etc ... where does Oct 2nd/ gone for them..,..? I am sure people who cursed me were one of them !
Infact ateast I am open and willing to ask people before taking any unethical step or wrong step...!

Thanks for your responses. The hospital staff told us it would take 60-90 days to get the SSN. I am stuck until that arrives because only then can I apply for the passport. Any way to get around it?
Call SS office they may give SS on phone or just go and ask them they will give you the number based on which you can apply for passport.
If you apply PIO in person and pick it up in person It will take around week.

Recently travelled through EWR using AP without any issues. No questions asked. Only issue was the wait time in the secondary inspection room. There were about 25-30 people waiting infront of me. It took one hour 30 mins to finish the process at the secondary inspection room.
On a side note, if you are travelling through Frankfurt airport, don't buy liqour either in US or India b'coz the security people won't allow liqour bought on non-European countries and non-european airlines.I have to throw away the stuff in the airport.

Cigna did for me. They gave a full reimbursement for my wife and a partial for me. I just used the forms they had on their website and the doctor's receipts.
