I don't think that they should include the ipod touch. There is no android equivalent. iOS has been out longer too, they will have previous market saturation (android released october 2008 more than a year after iOS). We need to look at the growth numbers.
I like how they can track individual users (scares me).
As mentioned before, iPhone has continually been compared to Android as platform rather than manufacturer's phone to phone. If that is the way people want to play than they must comparing ALL iOS devices to all Android devices because you are now comparing OS platforms to OS platforms. One reason is that it offers developers a better metric for them when evaluating what their potential ROI will be when they release an app. When releasing an app for iOS, it is accessible by iPhones, iPods, and iPads. Kind of a no-brainer way to measure in my book.

Maybe it's time I start to get a .mac account
If you don't have it now - don't bother getting it. There are free services that do everything that .Mac does. However, since I am so dependent on the email address - I'm stuck paying the $99 a year.

Install disks that come with a machine are restricted to install on only that machine type. This is true of both server and non-server disks.
The server key is not restricted (at least in my experience).

That is really great news. Yes, it could be a bit more polished and brushed up, but after playing around with Adobe Premier for a while I have to say I still like FCP better.

It would be great if Final Cut Pro got updated. At the moment, Adobe Premiere Pro is quite a lot better and has a more modern interface, which is kind of strange, as FCP is the industry standard.
WRONG! FCP is definitely not the industry standard. It gained a lot of traction in market share from Avid but has since regressed its gains over the last several years.

The problem with text entry boxes in (so far as I can tell) every single browser out today, is that they are fixed width. I can have a nice big 30" monitor and want to be able to type a paragraph about this size in a single friggin' line of text across the whole monitor (more common is trying to convey source code in a text window; wrapping really sucks for source code). But, I can't, because the text box is default sized so that it fits without scrolling on my mother in law's 10-year-old 15" CRT set at 640x480. So, it's a little postage-stamp square on my 30" cinema.
Unfortunately this is more of an issue with the designers, and not the technology. It's quite easy to make a textarea that resizes with your site design (unless the site is fixed with... but any site that heavily relies on user input generally is not.. and should not be). takes a few width: 100%'s, and you're good to go.
Now of course, that only deals with horizontal scaling. But hey, try making a post here, and click on those up and down arrows in the top right of the input area.

Has anybody else noticed that with each new patch Safari gets snappier and the battery life gets worse? :D
Actually, I felt my battery did get worse with 4.3.0. I'm not sure about 4.3.1 yet, but I jailbreaked at 4.3.1 so it's not really a fair comparison for me.

Would anyone recommend carbon copy cloner to make the switch to a Sata Drive?
Also once I've cloned the existing HD how do I go about telling the PPC that I want to use the Sata drive as boot drive? is it the startup page in system preferences?

For startup disk just click on system preferences and click on "Startup Disk" shown circled below. Just select the disk you want to boot from and select restart.

well here is the damage.
I cant get the old paste off the gpu as its baked on hard! I've managed to clean the heatsink of the remnants though.
Will applying a layer to the the GPU be enough? Will the remaining contact area of new paste be effective or is it FUBAR?
Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) and qtips can't get more of the paste off? I've read about people using a razor blade before to scrape it off, or use acetone, or even a hair dryer. You might wait for someone with actual experience removing the old stubborn stuff to post a reply, I'm just repeating what I've read elsewhere.

I'm giving Onyx a try, but my first problem is that three menu bar app's I use only show up on the menu bar when Onyx is selected.
I use Tiger Launch, Bluephone Elite, and Backlight. THese now show up on the left side of the menu bar when Onyx is being used and don't show at all otherwise. Any way to correct this?
